Top Driven Piling for Glasgow Fire Mains

1110.22 mtrs of 339mm Dia Steel Tubes Installed For Glasgow Fire Mains

Using John Lawrie Tubulars’ repurposed tubular products and bespoke procedures saved this project 258.04 tonnes CO2e. That’s a 97.21% saving over the production of new prime steel products.

Project Summary

In February 2025, John Lawrie Tubulars provided 36no. 339mm dia thick-walled steel tubular bearing piles for the project. Due to the nature of the tubes, they were supplied in varying lengths of between 11-13m. These tubes were used as bearing piles for the foundation of a new fire mains structure on the site at Glasgow Airport.

Project Challenges

The initial challenges were met extremely well by John Lawrie Tubulars. Some logistical issues were encountered that we rectified on the same day and the first load of steel tubes was transported to site for 7am the next day.
